Your Journey
Your treatment begins with a detailed consultation. Mr Chalhoub will assess your facial anatomy, discuss your goals, and explain exactly what can be achieved with filler. We view fillers as a sculpting tool — the goal is enhancement that looks natural, never overdone. Photography is taken so you can see the proposed changes before treatment begins.
Treatment takes 20–45 minutes depending on the areas being treated. The skin is numbed with topical cream, and many filler products contain lidocaine for additional comfort. Injections are placed carefully using anatomical landmarks to ensure optimal results. You remain awake and can communicate throughout, allowing real-time feedback as the face is sculpted.
Mild swelling and redness are normal and expected. This peaks around day 2–3 before gradually resolving. Some patients experience minor bruising, which can be concealed with makeup. The filler settles during this period, so your final result won't be visible yet. Avoid strenuous activity and excessive heat during these first few days.
Swelling has mostly resolved by day 4–5. You'll start to see the true results — fuller lips, more defined cheekbones, or smoothed lines depending on your treatment. The filler continues to integrate with the surrounding tissue. By day 7, you'll have a clear picture of the outcome and whether any fine-tuning is needed.
By two weeks, all swelling has resolved and you see the complete, final result. Your complimentary follow-up appointment is scheduled at this point so we can assess symmetry and make small refinements if needed. Most patients are delighted at this stage, but fine-tuning ensures perfection.
Most dermal fillers last 6–12 months depending on the product used and the area treated. Juvederm products are metabolized gradually, so there's no sudden disappearance — results fade naturally over time. Many patients choose to return every 9–12 months for maintenance treatments to keep results consistent.

Simple steps to minimize swelling and ensure beautiful, lasting results.
Honest Approach
Dermal fillers are a powerful tool — but they are a temporary enhancement, not a permanent fix. Here's why that matters, and why our conservative approach protects your face long-term.
The Science
Hyaluronic acid — the active ingredient in Juvederm — occurs naturally in your skin. Your body constantly produces and breaks it down. Unmodified HA has a half-life of just 24–48 hours in the skin. To make fillers last, the HA is cross-linked (chemically bonded) to slow this breakdown, extending results to 6–18 months depending on the area.
However, recent MRI studies have shown that residual filler material can remain detectable in tissue for much longer than previously thought — in some cases years after injection. This is one reason why a conservative, measured approach to filler volume is so important.
Lymphatic Drainage
Your face has a delicate lymphatic system that drains fluid, waste, and immune cells. Emerging research — including studies presented at the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons — has shown that dermal fillers can compress or obstruct these tiny lymphatic channels.
When lymphatic flow is disrupted, fluid can pool in the face, creating puffiness, a "heavy" or swollen appearance, and the loss of natural facial definition. This is one factor behind what's commonly called "pillow face" — and it's why volume should be added gradually and with restraint.
Filler Migration
Filler doesn't always stay precisely where it's placed. Studies have found that HA filler can migrate through gravity, muscle movement, or along blood vessels and fascial planes. One study found lymphatic spread to cervical lymph nodes in nearly 60% of patients examined.
Migration risk increases with higher volumes and less experienced injectors. This is exactly why Mr Chalhoub's approach favours smaller, precise volumes placed with detailed anatomical knowledge — informed by his surgical training in plastic surgery, where understanding deep facial anatomy is fundamental.
Our Philosophy
At Xavier On The Hill, we will never encourage you to have more filler than you need. We believe in enhancing your natural features — not replacing them. If we don't think filler is the right solution for your concern, we'll tell you honestly and suggest alternatives.
We also recommend regular reviews rather than "top-ups on top of top-ups." Before adding filler, we assess what's already present. Residual filler from previous treatments builds up over time — what researchers call "filler creep" — and failing to account for it leads to that overdone, doughy appearance that gives fillers a bad reputation.
The reversibility of hyaluronic acid fillers is one of their greatest advantages. Unlike permanent fillers, HA can be dissolved with hyaluronidase if needed — giving you control over your appearance at every stage.
Our Commitment
"The best filler result is one that nobody can tell you've had — including you, six months later when it's worn off naturally."
— Mr Xavier Chalhoub, Plastic Surgery Registrar
In Detail
Everything you need to know about our most popular dermal filler treatments.
Lip Enhancement
Lip enhancement with dermal filler is one of our most popular treatments. The goal is never to create artificial-looking "duck lips" — instead, we enhance the natural lip shape, add subtle volume, and restore the soft fullness that diminishes with age.
Using precise anatomical techniques, filler is placed in the lip body for volume and along the lip border to define and refine the shape. The result is lips that look authentically like yours, just more vibrant and youthful. Juvederm fillers integrate beautifully with lip tissue and create a soft, natural feel.
Most patients receive 0.5–1.5ml of filler per treatment depending on their starting point and desired result. Results appear within days and improve further over two weeks as swelling settles. Typically maintained every 9–12 months.
Cheek Enhancement
As we age, we lose facial volume, particularly in the cheeks. This causes the face to appear hollowed, tired, or drooping. Strategic cheek filler restores this lost volume and creates lifted, sculpted cheekbones that are instantly rejuvenating.
Filler is placed deep in the cheek to provide structure and support, creating a natural lift that also helps define the jawline. The treatment is sculptural — we're rebuilding the architecture of the face to restore youthful proportions and radiance.
Typically 1–2ml per cheek is used, though this varies by facial anatomy. Results last 6–9 months on average. Many patients find that restoring cheek volume also improves their overall facial balance and makes them appear well-rested.
Tear Trough Treatment
Tear troughs — the hollow groove running from the inner eye down toward the cheek — become more pronounced with age as volume is lost. This creates the appearance of dark circles and tired, sunken eyes even when you're well-rested.
Tear trough filler restores volume to this area with meticulous precision. The placement is critical; filler must be injected at the correct depth into the tear trough itself, not the eyelid. This requires detailed anatomical knowledge to avoid complications and achieve natural results.
This is considered an advanced treatment, best performed by experienced practitioners. The transformation can be remarkable — suddenly your eyes look brighter, more awake, and the dark circles are dramatically improved. Typically 0.5–1ml per eye is used. Results last 9–12 months.
Jawline Contouring
A well-defined jawline is considered attractive across genders — it conveys strength, youthfulness, and good proportion. Jawline filler enhances definition by adding subtle volume along the jawline itself, creating a sharper, more sculpted appearance.
Filler is placed strategically along the mandibular border to enhance the jaw's natural contour without creating an artificial or "square" result. The goal is enhancement that looks like good genetics, not obvious treatment. This works beautifully for both men and women.
Typically 1–2ml per side is used, though this varies significantly by anatomy. Jawline filler is often combined with chin filler for comprehensive lower face rejuvenation. Results last 6–9 months and are extremely satisfying for most patients.
Non-Surgical Rhinoplasty
Non-surgical rhinoplasty — or "liquid rhinoplasty" — uses dermal filler to reshape, balance, and refine the nose without surgery. This is perfect for patients who want to address minor aesthetic concerns like a bump on the bridge, asymmetry, or loss of definition at the tip.
Strategic filler placement can smooth a dorsal hump, straighten a crooked bridge, define the tip, or enhance a weak chin-to-nose proportion. The results are subtle but impactful, and the beauty is that they're temporary — if you don't like them, they naturally fade over 12 months.
This requires exceptional anatomical knowledge and artistic skill. Not all practitioners should attempt this treatment. Mr Chalhoub's surgical training makes him ideally suited to this demanding procedure. Typically 0.5–1.5ml is used across the nose. Results are immediate and continue to improve over two weeks.
Nasolabial Fold Softening
Nasolabial folds — the lines running from the nose to the corners of the mouth — become increasingly prominent with age as the face loses volume. They can make you look tired, drawn, or older than you feel.
Filler placed in and around the nasolabial fold softens these lines while restoring volume to the cheek and upper lip areas. The key is placing filler strategically to lift the face and smooth the fold without creating an unnatural appearance. This is a subtle but highly effective treatment.
Usually 0.5–1.5ml per side is sufficient depending on fold depth. This treatment is often combined with cheek filler for a more harmonious rejuvenation. Results appear within days and last 6–9 months on average.
Common Questions
Not with the right practitioner and approach. At Xavier On The Hill, we use a conservative philosophy — we'd rather slightly underfill on the first visit and add more at your 2-week follow-up than overfill and look unnatural. The goal is always enhancement, not transformation. Properly placed filler should be invisible, with people commenting that you "look refreshed" rather than knowing you've had treatment.
Yes, modern Juvederm fillers feel completely natural. They integrate with your tissue and move naturally with your face. Unlike some older filler products, you won't feel lumps or have difficulty with expression. The filler is designed to mimic the body's natural hyaluronic acid, so it feels like part of your own skin.
Mild swelling is completely normal and expected. Most patients experience peak swelling around day 2–3, which then gradually resolves. You may also notice minor bruising, which is nothing to worry about — it fades quickly. Some patients have minimal swelling, while others swell more significantly; both are normal. This is why your follow-up appointment is scheduled at 2 weeks, when all swelling has completely resolved.
We exclusively use Juvederm products — a premium, FDA-approved hyaluronic acid filler family made by Allergan. Juvederm is cross-linked hyaluronic acid that holds its shape while remaining soft and natural-feeling. Other fillers exist (Restylane, Belotero, etc.), but Juvederm's consistent quality, longevity, and safety profile make it our choice. We stand behind every product we use.
Most Juvederm fillers last 6–12 months. Placement location affects longevity — areas with more movement (lips) break down faster than areas with less movement (cheeks or temples). Your metabolism and individual factors also play a role. Most patients find it helpful to return every 9–12 months for maintenance to keep results consistent.
Absolutely, and many patients benefit from both. Botox relaxes dynamic wrinkles (created by muscle movement), while fillers restore volume and smooth static lines. Used together, they create a comprehensive rejuvenation that addresses multiple aspects of aging. Many patients find this combination more effective than either treatment alone.
Nothing harmful happens. Hyaluronic acid filler is naturally metabolized by your body over 6–12 months. Your face gradually returns to its previous state — you won't look worse than before, and there's no "rebound" effect. If you decide fillers aren't for you, simply stop having them and your face will return to normal.
Hyaluronic acid fillers like Juvederm have an excellent safety profile when administered by a qualified practitioner. Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring substance in your body — it's safe and biocompatible. Serious side effects are extremely rare. Minor temporary swelling or bruising is the most common effect. As always, choosing a medically trained injector with deep anatomical knowledge is key to safe outcomes.
We recommend avoiding filler during pregnancy and breastfeeding out of an abundance of caution, even though hyaluronic acid is very safe. There's no evidence that filler causes harm, but there's also no extensive safety data in this population. We recommend waiting until you've finished breastfeeding before scheduling treatment.
There's no "right" age to start fillers. Some patients in their late 20s or 30s begin with subtle lip or cheek enhancement, while others don't start until their 50s. The best time is when you notice volume loss or when you have a specific concern you'd like to address. During your consultation, Mr Chalhoub will give you an honest assessment of whether filler would benefit you now or whether it's better to wait.
Modern hyaluronic acid fillers don't migrate when properly placed. They stay where they're injected and are held in place by the surrounding tissue. However, poor placement or overfilling can sometimes lead to filler appearing in unintended areas — this is why choosing an experienced, anatomically knowledgeable practitioner is critical. Mr Chalhoub's approach ensures filler stays exactly where it should.
Yes, there's no conflict between filler and Botox. In fact, many patients have both treatments, often on the same day or at separate appointments. Botox is typically refreshed every 3–4 months, while filler lasts 6–12 months, so the timing may be staggered. Your practitioner can advise on the best approach for your specific goals.
Results are visible immediately — you'll see the enhancement right after treatment. However, swelling can mask the final result during the first few days. The true, final result becomes visible around 2 weeks when all swelling has fully resolved. This is why your complimentary follow-up is scheduled at 2 weeks — to ensure you're happy with the result and to make any fine adjustments if needed.
